I posted it before I watched it TBH. But he's in it.

He has to mention Obi Wan at some point. Wonder why he chose Obi Wan and not yoda to send the plans to? He alone knows they're both still alive.
Because they're closer to Tattooine?
And he knows where Luke is.
There ya go.

What would be the motivation in sending his daughter to find her long lost brother though? I doubt he'd want them to meet.

He knows where Luke is. Which means he knows where Obi Wan is. Obi Wan is closer, maybe, but more importantly, he's also still on "active duty." He has a mission. Yoda is in hiding, far, far away. I'm just saying it makes common sense why he wants the plans to go to Obi Wan and he obviously knows where to find him.

look at the context though. The emperor has built the Death Star. It shouldn't have been an either or. He should have reached out to both yoda and Obi Wan. A rag tag rebellion would need all the allies it can get, no?

1) I don't know that he knows Yoda is alive. If that's covered in any of the cartoons or books, so be it. But that's not something I'm aware of as someone who watches only the movies.

2) Given that Obi Wan is the only one that is still active and receptive to the movement it makes perfect sense.

3) It makes all the sense in the world to me that he would reach out to Obi Wan first BECAUSE he's watching Luke. And whether or not they want Leia and Luke to meet, they must suspect that Luke is important -- either in the force or as a bargaining chip/leverage/weapon against Vader.

4) Seems like maybe people are overthinking it.

Bail is the last person to see Obi Wan and yoda leave. They leave from the same vessel Vader attacks at the start of new hope. Tantive V or something.
He's been given Leia to mind by yoda to take care of. This is at the end of revenge of the Sith.
Of course he knows where yoda is.

Not necessarily. It's not like Yoda says "hey, I'll be on Dagobah if anything bad happens and you need me." Yoda could just have easily NOT told anyone where he'd be because from a Sith/Dark Side point of view, he's public enemy #1.

Of course, how fucking stupid is the Empire that Luke could be raised by Vader's fucking brother on Vader's home planet and not ever know?

Oh, really? I don't remember any of that. But it's been 13 years or whatever since I've seen that movie.

Someone who pays attention to everything... how many years is it between the actual end of the Clone Wars and A New Hope?

Sounds about right.

Interesting to see the current season of Rebels is only 2 years before the original movie.

They were still knee deep in them during ROTS. That's why they were all already fighting. Then the Emperor issued his super secret order for all the clones to turn on the Jedi. So, technically, I guess the Clone Wars ended in that moment.

Ah. Weird. Okay, so where does the cartoon series end?
