Honestly, an entire generation is watching yet again as capitalism responds to a struggle by firing them. They’re at home, waiting for their government-sanctioned apology pittance, while that same government redirects billions towards the businesses that ditched them and ended their health insurance. Millions (millions!) of them lost their jobs, and then went home to be told that the stock market had rebounded that day.
The party in power is trying to make voting more difficult, prevent government healthcare enrollments, and save the richest first. Meanwhile, the only political party that ever speaks to them at ALL just nominated a “things are actually fine” decaying remains guy who has repeatedly made light of their experiences and loves the world order.
Anybody who cares about capitalism as an economic guide, democracy as a system, and the Democratic Party should, if they have half a brain, be unnerved by the experiences these folks are having...because it can only serve to feel like a total reenforcement of every doubt, and every skepticism. Like proof that every moment of establishment-directed anger was justified. Any other response seems terribly naive to me, and to be honest flippancy just looks small.

"Most progressive agenda from a major party in decades" is quite a stretch, considering that in 2016 HRC proposed allowing Medicare buy-in at 55 and Biden has taken it a step further by...raising it to 60. Or that in 92 Clinton ran on a healthcare plan to "cover everybody" (specific quote from campaign materials)--and Biden is currently to the right of that. That isn't to say that he's not to the left of those candidates on a number of issues, but this isn't the slam-dunk own you think it is, especially given how far to the right Biden is of the left-ward pole of the ideological debate, a position which has been driven further left by young voters who want to see their material concerns addressed in light of the changes in the past 4-12 years. In other words, it's pretty stupid to expect young voters to be satisfied with a platform marginally to the left of 2008 Obama when the world we're living in bears little relation to that world, in terms of the prospects of stability and upward mobility.
So if you're worried about young voters coming out for Biden, I might suggest advocating for your candidate to address those very real, materials concerns! But who's to say, maybe recycling Bush-era memes on the internet to insult Gen Z will motivate them all the same.

IOW will pre-emptively blaming young voters for your candidate's inability to build a coalition help motivate them to vote for Biden? Fuck around and find out!

In this meme, the world wide desire to beat Trump is an object which must be...destroyed? And the establishment is represented by a man seeking to destroy it?
But, if I’m reading this right, young voters refuse to destroy the desire to beat Trump, and doom us all to seeing that desire rise to great influence again.
Or am I just confused because I saw the movie?

Sorry, it’s really hard to find right wing memes

But given how bad Trump has been with the pandemic, young voters who choose to not show up at the polls this November to defeat him deserve every bit of misery they get.

Also, this is not just a "young voter" problem. Many of the staunchest Bernie supporters I know were folks in their late 30's/40's who blew out their knees or got cancer and just fucking want healthcare so they don't live in misery or die. It's not hard to figure out.

Hasn't the mainstream narrative around the Bernie campaign been that he was
unable to turn out the new (youth) voters who were integral to his success strategy?

Yup, this all gets framed as if it's just young people without much life experience, but it's not. Support for Bernie really starts to build around the middle of Generation X.

Turnout did not go up as much as he needed. That's just a fact. More older voters than younger ones in the exit polls. Of course that doesn't mean he couldn't have done better in this regard in the general.

And how does sitting out the vote help them?
