Well, at least we didn’t have to have an election decided by lawsuits. I actually prefer this situation to that one.

It will be fascinating to see the post-mortem, once there are more details. But it will be hard to watch the next two years unfold.

If his cabinet is what he has promised it will be, then I think he will be a much less significant part of the story in his second term.

The first time, he was an outsider and a bulldozer, surrounded mostly by careerists and butting up against limitations set by the other branches.

This time he may be entirely without checks, and wrapped up in a cocoon of flatterers, fellow grifters, and oligarchs. Probably be a much more impactful presidency this time, whether he is around for it all or not.

I should’ve been clearer: I’m less interested in theorizing about this part until we know more about the vote demo breakdowns. For example, my speculations will be very different if it turns out that a wave of low propensity non affiliated voters showed up on Election Day, than it will be if we find out men showed up in unexpected numbers, than it will be if women didn’t break for Harris the way people thought, than it will be if specific voter groups stayed home, etc.

Republicans gained 12 points in households making under $100,000/year. They'll will straight up fuck every one of those families, and those families will love them for it.

Someone give me a Democratic strategy for fixing that.
