And I had some issues with the depiction of Batman, but this version of Superman is pretty great IMO. The montage in the middle where he's saving people is just beautiful.
I wouldn't say it's a "huge" difference. It feels in a lot of details, makes the story easier to follow, and generally lets the movie breathe better. But it's definitely the same movie.

Wonder Woman was damn near perfect and the effects for her Golden Lasso was deadeye-dick perfect. The incoherent story and the unrecognizable character that is Superman totally ruins any of the good in it, tho.
Why do you think Supes was unrecognizable? Interesting. I love Snyder´s take on supes..its giving him a complex morality that was actually there in supes comic books in the 90s.
Superman would never just stand there and let a piss bomb kill innocent people in a courtroom.
Superheroes aren't supposed to act like we would or like real people would. They're supposed to be better than we are. Only that doesn't really happen in Snyder's universe. ( Except maybe Wonder Woman). The heroes in this universe don't really care at all.
While I wasn't crazy about the movie overall, my qualms with it was how it was pieced together by Snyder, some of the character traits I actually kind of enjoyed. I wasn't crazy about Superman, but one of the things I DID like about him was his faults that made him not super. The hardest part, for me, about being a Superman fan is the idea that he's the ultimate superhero. He's nearly invincible. To see him make mistakes, like the courtroom scene, was an interesting twist on his character.
Some of the throwbacks to previous movies were really hamfisted and cheap to me. Batman in the bat mobile chasing 18 wheelers being shot at by missiles....AGAIN. Superman saves Lois falling from a helicopter pad on top of a skyscraper...AGAIN. I get the nod to history, but it was way too literal.

That is objectively false. And he didn't "let" those people die; he didn't know about the bomb. What do you expect him to do?
Yeah he didnt know about the bomb. Im guessing you didnt understand the movie at all.
He's fucking Superman. He didn't even try. He just stood there. He can move faster than God. He just stood there.

This Superman is depowered compared to other versions....which is what everyone asks for....because if he did save those people the complaint would be there is no tension cause Superman can do anything.

This line of criticism is inexplicable to me. What in either Man of Steel or BVS informs the viewer that Superman would have the kind of powers you're referring to? Is it breaking any internal logic? Or are you imposing your subjective perception of an amorphous, fictional character from other adaptations that don't have any bearing on this interpretation of the character? Why would that be relevant whatsoever?

What part of my statement lead you to believe that any of those questions applied to what I was saying? I'm agreeing with you goofball. There is nothing in those movies that implies Superman could have acted like Flash and zipped around the courtroom and removed those people or contain an already detonated explosion or reverse the earths rotation and change history to save all those dead people. I was questioning the implication that Superman should have been able to do something in these movies based on past versions. Silly goose.

This scene really bothered me because, jesus, that was a LOT of water that spilled out of that tub. Imagine how much of a pain in the ass it would have been to clean that!
