Funny you mentioned Save You a few posts earlier.

I remember listening to Riot Act years ago with a close friend and fellow PJ fan and he remarked on that song and how it was an example of Eddie really feeling it, exemplified by that little off the cuff yelp he does. I feel the same loose energy hearing the count in at the beginning of RoJ. It gives me the same jolt. Similar idea with the "like this... 1,2,3,4" bit in Try.

Ed's feeling it here and not overthinking it.

it's the chords in that section that sound like Alive, not the noodling; but I'm sure that's to do with the fact that Alive was a thinly veiled blues song anyway; give it some shuffle and you get this

you know what else I think is remarkable about Invincible? they kept it SLOW and GROOVY and SPACIOUS when it could very easily have been a speedy Lightning Bolt

The Dark is holding strong as my favorite on this thing. The first verse could be a hushed late night conversation between someone and their hurting partner. The second verse, much more abstract, illuminates the revelation of that pain. This would be such a crushing song if delivered any other way, but somehow the juxtopositon of bright chords and quick tempo make everything heavy in the song feel so much lighter. It's a multitude of emotions that a lot of us can connect with, no doubt, and therein lies the appeal of this whole dang thing.

I thought Chris Chaney (Jane's Addiction) is playing bass on the tour.

Palladino played on the album and on those initial festival shows Ed played a few months ago.

EDIT: I'm wrong, Pino didn't play on the record.

The Dark first verse is a dead person speaking to living one the second verse is a living person speaking to a dead person.

what I like is that you're never sure who is abusing who, so it never resorts to easy sexism like the "under the thumb" trope

that itchy trigger finger is a violent image, so I don't think he's as innocent as it sounds
