used to be able to do it with a 4 iron but I haven't carried it in a few years

Went to the beach with my kids before work today and I had to help 2 old guys out of the water. Both lost their balance and were floating face down.

Both were too old for the surf.

I’m told there’s been a noticeable uptick in drownings down there the past few years. Any reason?

There are theories that fitness levels are down and people haven't been to the beach as much as usual (so lacking awareness).

Kids have missed swimming lessons etc so that could play a part too.
