A lot of people also mention that the visiting team draws will be larger than usual, because the city itself is a big tourist spot.

I assumed it was because Toronto got a good player with their first pick in the draft?

I became briefly concerned that a stamkos to toronto thing was heavily rumored so i googled it and feel better.

I'm not a Lightning fan, but I hope he stays there. They have a pretty good thing going down there, who knows what would have happened had he been healthy in that last series. I like Stamkos.

So do I and would like to see him on the Detroit Red Wings, and with the absolute heist that Kenny Holland pulled off on Draft night, our chances got a hell of a lot better.

Yeah, Detroit made some cap room, looks like Buffalo is going to try real hard for him too. I just hope Boston doesn't sign him.

I'd like Stammer, but not for the rumored cap-crippling 12mil I heard he wanted

Yeah, I don't expect him to sign in Toronto because I think someone will offer him a ludicrous amount of money. I would be happy with something under $10 million per year, but at ~$12 million? No thanks.

It was kind of a heist for the Coyotes too, since taking Datsyuk's contract means absolutely nothing to them.

Oh, I agree. But for Holland to get a 2nd rounder to drop back 4 spots I would have been content- to unload the contract too was just a nice bonus considering what Chicago had to do to ditch Bickell

For sure. The rumours of having to give up a bunch to get rid of him were always kind of stupid, though, because it's a much different situation than Bickell. The Hurricanes had to take on Bickell's $4 million cap hit and pay him $4.5 million. The Coyotes take Datsyuk's $7.5 million cap him and pay him nothing. There's no financial commitment, so for a team that's going to be way below the cap, it can't hurt.

Steven Stamkos re-signing in Tampa Bay (for a perfectly reasonable 8 years at $8.5 million/year) is the third biggest news of the last half hour.

Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson

P.K. Subban for Shea Weber

What the hell is going on?

Stamkos for under 9 mil a year is an absolute steal

Edmonton couldn't have gotten better than Larsson for Taylor Hall?

Montreal might win that Subban trade in the short term, but that Weber contract is going to be an albatross in 3-4 years
