Yup. The economy is Trumps only safety net. He wins again, we slip into recession (better than 50/50), the red team is done forever.

As much as I would love for that to be true, it's not. The GOP trashed the economy under Bush with just as reprehensible social politics, and Trump won less than a decade later.

If 2016 taught us anything it's that the idea of projecting (especially in absolutes) is stupid.

Again, I think this is wishful thinking at best and delusional at worst. The primary identity categories of the right (whiteness and nationality) are incredibly flexible; the standard for whiteness has been altered before so as to maintain white hegemony. It is not particularly difficult to imagine lighter-skinned Hispanics and East Asians being absorbed just as the Italian and Irish once were. The idea that demographics will eliminate a certain kind of conservativism dates back to at least the early 20th century, and we're familiar with the end result of that pipedream.

As painful as last night's debate was, this one is going to be so, so much worse.

I just wish one of these motherfuckers would go off script. Stop playing by the rules you were given. Frankly, like trump did.
Apparently it takes a malignant narcissist to do that, and that's depressing. What do these losers in the single digits have to be afraid of? They're already dead. Say what we're all thinking (hopefully): this is all a sham.

Everyone on stage tonight should be deported but Harris and Biden look especially bad. Stark difference between Sanders and Warren last night, who were both on their game. H and B look rattled and incoherent.
