When Thanos snapped did it wipe out half of populations that he'd already bicemated like Asguard? Seems unfair to cut the Asguardians down by 3/4s over the course of one movie.

Yes. It was half of all life at that time. Which would appear to only include humanoid life forms since none of the foliage (except Groot) or animals were killed.

Back on topic ... I'm kind of excited to see the official announcement of the Phase 4 slate of movies.

I think at this point ¨classic B¨ means a lot of different things....example: Your view of the Breaking Bad finale was a classic B moment for me.
