I think my current favorite part on the whole album is from 3:58 to about 4:30 on this song.

Does anybody else here fucking love this part of this song as much as I do?
Anybody?

I love that part so much...i also think its a guitar.Birds in Hell wrote:Are we talking about that brief bit of synth-y lead around 1:44? I love that bit.
Listening on headphones now, there's a wonkiness to it which leads to me think it might have been played on guitar (there are certainly plenty of synth-inspired pedals that could do it) but I don't see how it's better or worse either way.

Sounds like “hit me with a real big stick”guitar_davey wrote:What does Ed say at about the 23 second mark?

Ed's delivery on Satisfaction really annoys me. It's hooky and gets stuck in my head but not in a good way (think Cranberries Zombie).Ms Harmless wrote:"gave up on satisfaction" makes me wince a littlestip wrote:Same. the lighter/poppier elements of the song (including the chorus) hold it back a bit for me. it reminds me of "can't get no satisfaction" and I don't like that songLetMeSleep wrote:Ed's delivery on Satisfaction really annoys me. There's a song or delivery somewhere in the catalogue that that Satisfaction line is reminding me of but I can't put my finger on it.
Nah, that's what makes it interesting. If you edit out all the little idiosyncrasies it would end up being a pretty boilerplate modern Pearl Jam rocker with a few stands of their older zest mixed in. The false ending, the tonal shifts; they elevate the overall song.lecherouslittlestump wrote:Needs an editor. The song literally ends and starts up again. Get rid of the wanky noodling and this is a 5 star song. Great chorus.

Fuck me this is good.Home is where the broken heart is
Home is where every scar is
Blinking stars, beneath you roam
Room to tomb and cradle to grave
All the answers will be found
In the mistakes that we have made
