This is slower, and heavier, than "Song X". I hear more of "truth be known", but again it's darker.

I wish. They are way too goddamn precious about their material though.

*insert Neil young comment here
Since you brought him up, I hear a little Neil in this track as well.

My hopes are rising.

So, apparently this song sounds like nothing in the PJ catalogue, except for about half of the PJ catalogue.

Sounding very Russell Coight there.

This so much this. Half of these "influences" will be lost because the guitars are going to be thinned to a complimentary role instead of driving the song.

(I'm trying to temper my expectations because of how much I love this shitbox recording)

I think it will be their darkest by far much darker than Riot Act. S/T pointed fingers. I think this album will take fingers hack them off and make smoothies. I feel with all this darkness there will be triumph and hope that resonates through the album as well.
All these thoughts from one single and a sound check outtake and a clip from a tour commercial. Maybe I have over thought all of this. I just know Mym is not a extention of backspacer to me, and I love Backspacer. This feels different this feels epic
This guy...this guy gets it. I think the theme of the album could be somewhere between bitter...jaded...feeling betrayed...maybe foolish yet still hopeful that we can find our way back. When you look at this new song combined with what we already have with MYM,"Right around the corner could be bigger than ourselves we could will it to the sky or we could something else..."lyrics like that point to feeling like we could evolve and choose a better path or blow it all to hell. That combined with the moody music ...the atmosphere that seems to have come through from the YouTube clip and this recording. I feel like everything combined is gonna make for an epic outting this time around. They're at their best when they feel they have something important to say. A direction and a message. I'm super stoked!

Oh how I hope this is true. Like stip said the other day, they are at their best not when giving answering but when searching/asking questions.

So it does sound like force of nature?

I thought that was just a joke.

From what i can hear it doesnt really remind me of anything PJ. It reminds me of like something from Coverdale/Page. A mid tempo metal feel

Nice lead work which hopefully has a strong vocal (couldn't pick out much of Ed). I can hear a string part over the outro though. Hope we hear another version tomorrow.

I hear the string part too and from what I can make out of ed towards the end he gets louder and sings in a higher register but from what I can hear not "too" high and still in his current range.

Hmm...I haven't heard this song, but based on all the comments this seems to be a hybrid of Neil Young, Zeppelin, and all the Pearl Jam songs that don't suck.

Sounds like a keeper.

It almost sounds like the ominous music in the tour announcement could be the intro to this song...

Just compared both, hard to tell, but I think it's different, on this quality anyway.
