As always, the bridge is the best part of the song. But PJ are experts in that. They should release a whole album of bridges, with the cover being Eddie dressed as Jeff Bridges in Lebowski.

I’m less bothered by the drums than I am by the lack of guitar tone on both tracks so far. They are playing some cool stuff in there but it’s like watt threw everything through a metal zone plug in and called it a day.

The song itself is actually pretty cool all in all.

Wow. No...just no.

Songs on Gig that are not as good as Running:

Never Dest
River Cross
TTLW
SBWM (possibly)

SOME songs on Gig were lightning in a bottle (Dance, WES, 7). Otherwise, it's fairly mediocre with some downright sub par efforts.

I, too, tend to overrate Gigaton because of the few really good songs in it

Forgive sounding like a noob over here, but where does one currently listen to this entire song?

Thanks!

This song is kind of like... "Big Wave" crossed with "The Ants Go Marching One By One"

maybe they released the shortest song in hopes of appealing to short-attention-span millennials

The bridge rules. Rest of the song? Meh.

Still, very strange single choice.

This will be a voice killer for Ed at shows.

I think what this song has going for it is the quick in and out and short run time.

You do kind of get slapped in the face constantly and by songs end you're not quite sure what the fuck just happened.

Intro, verse, chorus kind of, verse, chorus kind of, bridge, outro bye.

On ‘Running,’ it’s rare to hear a Pearl Jam song with this chant-y, gang vocal chorus. It just sounds like fun.

Jeff had the main parts for that one, and we worked it over as a band. I love the bridge. I don’t know what the hell those chords are that Mike’s playing, but it sounds original. It’s one of the last ones we recorded at Shangri-La, and it was fun to come up with one more uptempo song. Ed’s vocal dexterity here and on a few other spots on the album is just stunning. Same thing goes with that second verse of ‘React, Respond’ where he’s almost frickin’ rapping.

Nice to revisit what Stone said about Running.
