I think this is possibly 3 up from the bottom for me (ahead of sirens and future days) but it's still good. I like it fine, but don't love it. Definitely in the minority on that one.

i like that line about putting all your faith in no faith. That resonates with me.
I would say that this song reminds me of Insignificance in that its the purest rock song on the record and everyone is full on, but I dont want to upset Chud.

Insignificance was way better, imo. Insignificance was sung with passion. Not feeling it here.

I feel that way about all of the lyrics here, I think, and that line in particular. I liked the song on first listen, but it really stepped up a notch to a "this one means something to me" level when I started to figure out the lyrics.

this one is my favorite so far. newton, connecticut, had an immediate and overwhelming impact on me. my best friend is a very christian man, and he knows where i now stand in regards to religion, but as a best friend and a christian man, he wants to "save me," and this song is exactly how i feel when he tries. the line burt reynolds pointed out stands out for me too, but my favorite line by far is, "for god's sake!" clever, girl.

Man this song hits it right on the head. I get why some people want all of the layered difficult stuff all on one cohesive album. That'd be cool. But I personally need to find my way into the album with some shit that hits me immediate. This does it. Great opening track, Jeff is all over this and Matt is in fine form. And Ed, oh man.

It was the most revealing thing I'd heard yet! Mike is a nice guy and pretty honest about things. He said Ed brought 'Getaway' into the second session, unless I dreamed that.

I think that's 'Swallowed Whole', harm. If it's that new Mike interview, we don't learn about Getaway. I think the new one we found out was that Pendulum is a Jeff song from the Backspacer sessions.

Insignificance could be the most insignificant rocker they ever did, IMO. I'd say that about all the rockers on Binaural except Grievance.
Getaway is a top tier Pearl Jam song.
