But it's subjective. Some say "Sirens" is far too sentimental for their ears, I say it verges on too much sentiment but stays on the right side of emotional and tasteful. So it's not really a choice between PJ and Celine Dion. There are shades in between. With "Sirens", finally the shades are raised (sorry).

With the way I retracked LB, I have SBM at number 5 right after Sirens. It really works wonderfully. It's a great pick me up after Sirens and thematically goes well with it too. I like it right in the middle of the album, it's great .

Don't apologize. That would be like holding the hand that holds you down. Then you couldn't raise the shades.

You and I will hold tight to that dream of distant light.

"The hurt don't show..."
"I've got memories, I got shit! So much it don't show!"

great Ed song...bad Pearl Jam song.
B-side with LTRP would have been awesome or a xmas single
starts off kinda with a jack Johnson feel then quickly fails after the second guitar kicks in

I thought this would be getting old to me by now but its not. When the guitar kicks in and has a similarity to the friends theme song, i was thinking i wouldn't be able to take that for long, but i don't really notice it anymore. This one is getting better like all of the songs on the album

I skip it and LTRP like I used to do with Mankind...Id love to have gotten another Mankind
instead of these two...maybe i'll force myself to listen over and over as an experiment to see if it changes my perception but i just get so bummed out when the song goes bad

I think I'm still partial to the solo recording but the band version does bring out a certain potential in the song that was beyond the uke version. I'm no fan of O'Brien's production on this record, but that he was able to hear the original recording and envision what it became speaks well of his ear.

It gets a 4 for me solely for the moment when it drops out to just Eddie Vedder and a ukulele. A half hour of that on an album was way too much, but five seconds here is really affecting.

The more I listen to this the more I'm glad it's on the record.

Good point. It definitely deserves it's spot on the album.
