if i can find an idle moment today ill post a love letter to that songdurdencommatyler wrote:Obviously, I disagree and most everyone else agrees with you. Which is why I said I had no right to talk. also, KD, i agree the album is uneven after that opening run, though Force of Nature is my favorite song on the album
Opposite. Force of nature is the best song they've written since Yield.
Amongst the waves fails all over. Too much trying to sound like pearl jam and failing by forcing it. It's play count (only 42 times played) vs unthought knowns play count (123 times)
Makes that point. UK is a truer more natural song to PJ. ATW should be but just isn't.

i know. it totally discounts the first 3 songs on S/T!Kevin Davis wrote:Whoa, whoa -- I am fond of "Force of Nature," but best since Yield? Thaf's crazy talk.
"Soon Forget" is a better song than it gets credit for -- the uke arrangement sounds kind of chintzy and the lyrics suck, but the tune and the chords are great. I really like Eddie's writing on the uke -- he seems more interested in messing around with surprising chords and harmonies, where on guitar he just seems to default to fairly common open chords and/or power chords.theplatypus wrote:"Force of Nature" has its charms. I like it. It's just very mediocre musically. The only Binaural song it's better than is "Soon Forget".
Let's rank Backspacer:stip wrote:Kevin Davis wrote:By the way, stip, "Force of Nature" is one of my favorites on there as well. In fact, I think we share a lot of the same affinities for Backspacer -- we just don't ultimately rank it the same in the catalog as a whole.
your appreciation for Backspacer helped keep me sane during the height of the pile-on and collapse of my RM credibility
Infallible is the best song since Riot Act.tragabigzanda wrote:You Are is the best song since Yield.
Army Reserve is the best song since Riot Act.
The Fixer is the best song since Avocado.
Pendulum is the best song since Backspacer.
I'm hearing a totally different song.dimejinky99 wrote:durdencommatyler wrote:Obviously, I disagree and most everyone else agrees with you. Which is why I said I had no right to talk. There's a beautiful loose but intent energy in force of nature that pearl jam hasn't managed to conjure in a long time. Maybe in puzzle and games.
