I'm gonna be pissed if that's true. What the hell happened to all that conspiracy mythology they set up in the first episode?

Yeah, that's why I'm wondering why they're waiting so long. Seems like a lot to cram in to two episodes.

hmm, looks like carter wrote the first ep, and he's written the final two eps. hold onto your butts.

They were fairly upfront about the fact that the first and last episodes would be conspiracy eps, whereas the ones in between would be stand-alones.

This was probably my least favorite of this mini season. Well, maybe I liked it more than the premiere. I'll have to watch them all again. But I still found a lot to enjoy about the episode. Mostly Gillian being amazing. These episodes have their place and while it's a steep drop from last week, I still found myself caring a great deal what happened and digging deeper into Skully and William.

Guys, the first ep was the best.

I need to see it again without all the expectations and adrenaline. It felt so fast and forced. The information was great, the myth building/reconstruction was fantastic. But again, Chris is a better idea man than writer. But I was hopped the fuck up! when it originally aired. I need to see it again.

Is anyone else worried thing will be left open ended with only two episodes left? I really don't want to be left pining for a movie to wrap up the mythology for the next 10 years or something.

I'm cool with that as long as is doesnt end up a 'maybe, we'll see' thing for five years.

I'm hoping for a light open ending. Then a 13 episode "Season 12". The ratings have been off the hook. Hopefully, all parties agree to a longer final season. Then one final film. Then we can all call it a day.

I don't see why they don't just do this once every year or two. I'd prefer a few more episodes, but this is perfect. You get to see the range of everything the X-Files can do, from conspiracy thriller to horror to comedy.
And I can't imagine this is going to conclude definitively, especially considering the strong ratings. I think, provided Duchovny and Anderson want to come back, Fox will roll out the red carpet.

Actually, that's a better idea. Treat it like a BBC show, like The Fall or similar. Do a 5 or 6 episode series every other year or so as long as the mains are into it. I love that.

Well, that was.....something. As usual, even when The X-Files fails, it's an admirable failure; the show runs full speed into brick walls. And nice use of Misery is the River of the World by Tom Waits!
