That's a straight up cover, though.

Don't get me wrong, it is my favorite song they do. But I can't really call it their best song because it is a cover.

Hot Dog is a great song. Love the off kilter country vibe.

PG was their first attempt at doing a "Lost Dogs" type thing, so there would have been no reason to strip it down.

They already did that with the previous 3 albums, hence the need for it to be a double. They had more than an album's worth of extra material lying around.

The music is SO different from the original, tho. Yes, it’s a cover, but not a straight up cover like Pearl Jam doing Last Kiss. The only thing Zep kept was the lyrics. And that fucking groove. Memphis Minnie wishes she brought that groove to it.

I like Coda with the bonus tracks more than ITTOD. Even without them i guess.

I think my favorite song is Ten Years Gone.

I’ve been learning to play guitar for the past 1.5 years and the most riffs I’ve been learning by a single band are from Led Zeppelin.

I may play the main riff to Ten Years Gone sucky, but damn if it doesn’t feel good to be playing a Led Zep song.

I like that song also. As time goes by I tend to gravitate more to their acoustic layering...like 3/4 of Led Zeppelin III.

How Many More Times, In My Time of Dying, Kashmir, Tea For One, Gallows Pole, Tangerine, Good Times Bad Times...those are some of the favorites without thinking too hard.

I was just having a debate with a friend about what is their (specifically Plant’s) best love song?

Thank You is the obvious choice & buddy was adamant, but I was stumping hard for I’m Gonna Crawl.

Obviously it’s Trampled Underfoot. He even tells you he’s talking about love.

Heard Black Dog coming out of the oldest Weaseling's room earlier, so I went in. She got a turntable for Christmas and raided Papa Wease's vinyl collection. She was spinning IV and said she's played it a few times and really digs it. Misty Mountain Hop is her favorite followed by Evermore. I told her to listen to Levee a few times and really listen to the groove they build in it. She's turned on to it. :hooray:

Led Zeppelin III - THIS! Outside of the finale, Hats Off to Roy Harper, this album is pretty much near perfect. The songs rumble along exactly as they should. Jimmy’s use of acoustic guitars throughout is probably my favorite aspect of this album and makes cohesive what is a very eclectic album - at least by Led Zeppelin standards. Your unsung hero here is Out on the Tiles, but everything is pretty much spot on. Tangerine and That’s the Way provide great folksy (for Zeppelin) touches while their version of Gallows Pole soars. Since I’ve Been Loving You made a big impact for me on this listen in it’s straight bluesiness.
:luv:

This is probably my favorite LZ album.
Ditto the love for III....my personal favorite.
