The penalties do add some more strategy I didn't really think about. It's making me rethink my preferred method of just making TDs worth 7 points, and then allow teams to gamble one point on a conversion.
Though, they should really allow teams to dropkick PATs from the 2. I'm sad that it seals the deal on Doug Flutie making the last dropkick in NFL history.

This does seem like an unusual amount of injuries, but I am basing that on pretty much nothing.

So Rashad Jennings was told NOT to score from inside the 5 in last night's game on 1st and 2nd, but then they throw it on 3rd down?
What the hell?

New York sports radio must be having a field day today with what happened last night.

Dan Quinn looks like the real deal in resurrecting defenses.

Seemed like things were going more the Falcons' way when I was paying less attention.

ESPN really needs to stop hiding the score bug during the play. That could be especially annoying in two-minute drills.
EDIT: And no timeout markers either? I don't know what they were thinking.

Given the quality of this MIN/SF 1st quarter I'm guessing East Coasters are dropping like flies right now.

Dilfer's voice and way of speaking is annoying but he's actually super on point in what he actually has to say about the game. I'll take him over most commentators any day.

Also I'm really enjoying this game. Both these teams could go 2-14 to 10-6 and have some young, interesting players.

The thing he just did about Kaepernick moving through his reads--that's wonderful analysis that you rarely get from other commentators that actually illuminates how the game is played. I really enjoy it.
