This was not a good start.

haven't listened yet, but this was my fear coming in.
Maybe I'm a debbie downer, the band sound fantastic. But it's the worst I've ever heard Eddie. Maybe it was an off night.

I liked Ed´s voice in this. Specially in the HTI and LTS combo.

I really like it. It's the right amount of grunge sound for modern day Pearl Jam and gives them a chance for some non Evenflow/Porch/RVM guitar work. I'm haven't heard this version yet, but I've caught it live a few times and have enjoyed them all.

I'd take a Jack White guest appearance on an Of The Earth studio take on the next album. Maybe that's the missing key.

I'd prefer him as the producer.

Yeah there's a real looseness/scuzziness floating just above the rest of the band with White in the mix. That could just be lack of rehearsal though

. Also it sounds like White is trying to riff on the Baby Please Don't Go guitar riff at the very end but he can't quite remember one of the notes to play the lick properly.

I wasn't that impressed with the sounds quality. It might be because I have one speaker that just went out so maybe I'm not getting the full effect. I agree with the other criticisms on Ed here. He isn't terrible throughout the whole thing but there were certain parts that sounded like he just didn't have it that day plain and simple. I don't hate the version of Hard to Imagine but he definitely didn't deliver it the way he usually does. I heard him nail it just a couple weeks before this so....
Overall the package is damn sexy and we got our money's worth. Love the book and the extras.

Oof -- you're not kidding about Eddie. His voice is actually cracking on "Deep," like a twelve year-old going through puberty. Really time to take inventory of your abilities here, dude. It ain't 1994 anymore.
Really like the sound of the band, though -- the guitars have a lot more crunch than usual. Count me in among those who'd like to see a Jack White-produced PJ album.

Oh man, it might be the drink talking, but I'd prefer the next PJ album sound more like Pendulum and less like Got Some. I'm not sure Jack is the man for the job. Maybe they should go a radically different way (I fully realize I am about to get laughed off the board) but maybe T Bone Burnett or some other alt-country type? Someone who could dial back the Ed and dial up the band.

I'm up for anything new. Another Brendan O'Brien-produced classic rocker would be a yawn fester for me.
