I think it's actually improved the song for me. Instead of just being a cheeseball intro, we now know 'hear the sirens' is just warning whoever eds guitar tech is that if they fuck up, eds gonna bust out his axe.

I'm going to do my best to make sure I never hear this song ever again..... its probably been a solid 3 months, looking to keep that momentum going another 30 years or so.

I haven't heard the radio version, but given how I hear they edited it I am amazed it's done well.

The radio edit isn't the worst.

For the radio version the intro is shortened, mike's solo is gone, and the "oh-oh, ah-ah" outtro is cut. XM plays the whole thing on AltNation, Lithium, Octane, and PJ Radio so you would have to hear it on over-the-air radio (or XM's Pulse or mainstream 20-on-20 type stations) to hear the edit.

It's just a verse-snip away from making the entire piece one long "chorus."

The terrestrial rock station here in Buffalo still plays "Sirens" in its unadulterated form. I guess it depends on the market.

 Don't mistake that for something it's not. I don't mind the tune, but it's pretty average, middle-of-the-road stuff. I imagine it's pretty terrible when edited the way others have been describing.

I really like it, but I've got a feeling it would've been a classic if it had sounded more like the acoustic version on the EPK. *cue picture of BoB's grinning mug*

Needs to be put through a rainbow filter.
