stumbled across this Japanese jazz record yesterday, and the cover intigued me for some reason. it was cheap, so figured i'd give it a shot. so far so good. nothing groundbreaking, it's just interesting to hear how modal jazz made its way to asia

I bought some audioengine A5s for a small room in the house. Excited to try them out.

Random thought but I sometimes get annoyed by records that are split into 2lp when 1 would satisfy me. Less interruption.

Yeah, Radiohead really are against people sitting down for too long whilst listening to their records.

any record at 33 1/3 RPM that is longer than 45minutes or so SHOULD be pressed on two records to maintain audio fidelity. I've gotten records that were close to an hour that were pressed on one record and it sounds like shit.

Yeah I get that. Still worth the trade off to sit on my ass though depending on the record.

I have no problem getting up and flipping the record.

Picked up Sea Change by Beck and Life's Rich Pageant by R.E.M. at my local shop. Man stuff there is getting overpriced. As an example they had Cornell's songbook thing on vinyl for 43 dollars!

That Cornell record sells on Discogs for upwards of $100, so $43 would be an absolute steal.

Oh wow. I didn't know that was limited. There are plenty of other examples though. The Soft Bulletin by Flaming Lips was $34 I think. A drunk guy crashed his car through the front window of the shop recently so maybe that has something to do with it.
