They were a lot more creative than other slasher movies and some of the practical effects were very cool.
My main issue is that the series can’t seem to decide how powerful/vulnerable Freddy is, and establishes basic rules only to completely ignore them, often within the same 10-15 minutes of screen time. The Nightmare series is a very cool concept. Not sure if they ever nailed it, but I enjoyed them a lot more than the other slasher trash.
