Tourist sites are apparently packed with fools in post lockdown China. Bold strategy, let's see how it plays out.

I love the desperate measures the journalist has to go through to signal to Blue Team that he isn't on the Red Team.

But I know many a liberals and left wingers who think the WHO mislead us and are culpable and deserve to be questioned?

Burt, I dont know where you develop your viewpoints but maybe you should stay off twitter. You are like bill maher who looks at twitter and then paints the few angry trolls on there as an entire ideology for a certain side.

I dont know. HELP ME UNDERSTAND YOU

I still don't see why we should care. Can't we put the heads on pikes after the virus is under control? Nobody has any time for these fuckheads playing political blame games right now.

Not now Strat I'm on a roll...

Nothing like tweets from UK police to make me fully Team Dime and call for the destruction of Great Britain.

That was was more of an anti-media post btw, not so much anti-Blue Team, so don't take offense.

Fucking truth. :worthy:
Nothing against that piece but it's sparked a counter-idea for me:
That piece has a really strong emotional appeal but doesn't highlight any meaningful actions underway, and pure emotional appeal doesn't overcome my pessimism for U.S. society's appetite to quickly get back to its pre-covid, resource intensive lifestyle.

This is the time to reflect, and an opportunity to take action that can shape new social norms and public policy.
But who's leading the efforts to take action?
And are there sufficient pressures on society to cause lasting positive individual and societal behavioral and lifestyle changes?

It's going to take collective action to shape American society to have less sever inequality, to increase human rights, to be more humane, to increase individual privacy, and so many other things.

Lately I've been down thinking about the downsides to our individualistic society in the U.S. How Americans value the environment for the resources that can be extracted (we're plugged into the resource intensive system) and are so shortsighted about exploring and preserving the other aspects (the other true values) of the natural world.

edit: for clarity.
The article Jammer posted is a bit out there, to put it mildly. And I wouldn't hold my breathing waiting for big changes in that direction in America. But I wouldn't doubt that a few experiments in that general direction take place in some places.

I think for a lot of people, this week felt like you were looking down the barrel of the gun, and I realized until I read this article I really have not been thinking about this more than a month or two ahead. I hadn't really conceived how this could just be the start of a very long upending of pretty much everything.

I don't think anyone could argue the UK government handled this situation well. I certainly haven't. By any measure, they've handled it very poorly.

I don't think they did so purposely (because Tories are evil), they simply made bad decisions on the basis of bad advice which led to disastrous results.
dimejinky99 wrote:Also important to remember the tiny cabal of billionaires that own all British media, how they brought about brexit destroyed Corbyn and now this
I think UK voters are ultimately responsible for the destruction of Corbyn, not some shadowy billionaires; ditto with Brexit.
