Yes this is what I'm learning now. At least it's not just Colombian ATMs being sneaky.

We converted a bunch of cash late last year when the Aus exchange rate plummeted to around .61 to a dollar. Then we did a bunch more before we thought we were buying a house last week at like .64 /:

How when I browse RM on my laptop if I click into a thread with lots of Twitter links they load one-by-one, every time pushing the page down a little, fucking with whatever post I was reading by making it suddenly disappear from in front of me.
I've learnt to open any N&D thread and just wait for 30 seconds or so before even trying to read a post.

YouTube links on here sometimes make my entire phone freeze up. Usually have to restart Chrome. It hasn't happened lately though.

This happens to me sometimes too. I tend to avoid the Now Playing thread in OB for that reason.

Another reason Burt and Dime need to leave Twitter. It's messing with our load times!

You guys used ATMs… in a foreign country?
Wtf were you thinking would happen? You’re not only paying the banks charges and exchange rate commission, youre paying the ATM operators too. Cash is king folks. Bring it with you

I just use a Wise card on my phone. Pre-buy Euros or whatever currency before I leave. And take cash in the currency with me. Did a month in Italy and never once used an ATM.

Interesting, I’ll have to look into this as we have an account with Wise too. Though it’s easiest just to put everything on a card. Annoying there isn’t an online way to let the CC company know you’ll be traveling though.

Not sure about South America, but my last few times in Europe, people looked at me weird if I offered cash. Even out in little country villages the shops would shove the contactless payment thing in front of you. Not really a need for cash but maybe a little bit.

I haven't used an ATM in 42 years.

I occasionally use the ATM at my local dispensary. Otherwise, I'm paying with my card or (increasingly) my phone.

I've been using Apple Pay on my watch lately to pay for most things. Very convenient.

you're actually running into higher exchange rates at your own bank in your own country to change out your local currency for the cash you want. you'll more than likely get a better exchange rate at an atm of the national bank once you arrive at your destination. plus, you really shouldn't need a ton of cash anyway ...
