I am whatever the highest level of skepticism is that there is a lot of money in vinyl variants.

if pearl jam was primarily concerned about making more money they'd license more music, play more shows, and charge more for the shows they play
How could they possibly charge more for the shows?

Quite easily. They could either raise the base ticket price up from $180 (or whatever it was) or release a far larger percentage of tickets to dynamic pricing.

what's the difference between 12 vinyl variants, and many hundreds of (professionally recorded) "bootlegs" of entire tours?

You get music. It is the beast most fan friendly thing Pearl Jam has done, and a wonderful way of making money. See, I'm a capitalist.

The 12 vinyls are not alone, they are part of a never ending stream of exclusives.

maybe they'll only buy the album in this form, who knows? maybe it'll sound a little better on vinyl? I just don't care about this, even though I care about a lot of things, and I haven't been given a good reason to start caring; if they were selling 12 variants of Pearl Jam lounge curtains in partnership with IKEA, that would be weird

I don't think Pearl Jam would turn them down.
