I think R1 would be the perfect movie to do some crossover work, especially with characters from Rebels. And any of the crew (minus Ezra) would be pretty cool to see, even if only a cameo. Like "Hey, this is the crew of the Ghost, they are the ones that received the intel that the plans we seek are located at X".

If the Skywalker Saga is the core of the Star Wars franchise, and Disney doesn't want to damage that, then how do they move forward after Episode 8 or 9? Keep Luke around till he's 80 or 90? Or Mark Hammill dies? There may be more revealed in that article than we know.

I really am excited about the possibility of Rebels characters appearing in this, or at the very least referenced. Chopper is so perfect.
