I totally get that.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Yes, and I think a core part of why I hate TFA (and expect to hate this, though it’s possible I won’t) is because what makes the OT meaningful to him does not seem to be what makes it meaningful to me. Whether or not it sings, I firmly believe he tried to make a great final chapter to a story that is super meaningful to him.
I've never had an issue with your dislike of modern Star Wars. I don't agree with all of your feelings/takes, obviously, but they are logical and well articulated.
These movies weren't terribly meaningful to me growing up. Certainly not to the level that they were for you or JJ or many, many others. I think that's probably why my reaction to the ST has been so different from yours. Though the things I do like about the OT and whatever they did/do mean to me is probably closer to what they mean to JJ than to you.
For what it's worth, I fully expect that you'll hate this movie. And I think that's reasonable and I can't imagine how anyone could honestly hold it against you. But I love that you'll give it a shot, even a reluctant shot.

i guess it was just okay. i've only watched it once, which is telling.durdencommatyler wrote:What was your take on the trailer, Spike? Did you already tell us?
but it's just the initial teaser, so it doesn't lessen my excitement or expectations for IX.

Threads been derailed again?
By the same one does it every time Star Wars does anything?
You’d have to wonder why bother at all

The force awakens...the last Jedi...the rise of Skywalker

I’ll explain cos you weren’t to know.
The joke was they’d name this one ‘from a nap’ following the last two titles.
They’ve pretty much done that, but using other words.
Hope you’re both cleared up on that now.
