Watched The French Dispatch last night.

It was fine. Some decent laughs. Some charm. Nothing super special or memorable but I enjoyed myself enough for a "stuck at home and sick on the couch" kind of movie.

I felt pretty similar, but saw it in the theater.

I forgot that the Winkie's scene takes place within the first 15 minutes of the movie. Jesus.

I really have to sit down with that film again, it has been far too long.

I like this. There's also a playfulness amidst violence to much of Lynch's work that just tends to tick all the right boxes for me.

Absolutely. And that's a huge part of why he's my favorite Director.

Mulholland Drive also buzzes along. I watched it during breaks in work today and am already an hour and a half in. The 4K disc looks great, but honestly I feel like it's the sound that's most improved from the last version I watched (which was probably a 720p bluray rip). I'm excited to dig into the special features, and I'm probably going to order the new 4K edition of Lost Highway, too.

This makes me so happy

Mullholland Drive is still, to this day, one of my top 3 movie-going experiences.

There is a punkiness to Lost Highway of an auteur having so much to say yet not sure how with the soundtrack completing it. Mulholland Drive is really Lynch in command of everything he wants to say with Badalamenti guiding him in on the approach and just 100% sticking the landing. Inland Empire relies solely on Lynch and it misses the mark for me. Lynch does best when he isn't pulling from only his own toolbox.

I havent seen Inland Empire for some reason. I think i was kinda out of Lynch when it came out, mainly because i was such a hard fan as a kid i needed a much appreciated rest from his work.

Lost Highway will always have a special place in my heart, as i got the vhs from a trip to the us in 1996, and the movie wasnt even out in Argentina.

Also Patricia Arquette nude, Baladamenti's score, Reznor, Smashing Pumpkins, Bowie and Manson.

Watched Burton's Batman on Netflix. We've kept subtitles on from back when kids were having trouble sleeping and we had to keep the TV volume down, and man have they nutered the subtitles on this. For example - towards the end when Batman is in the batwing coming after The Joker and Joker says 'Come to me you gruesome son of a bitch' the subtitle reads 'Come to me you gruesome son of a bat' - there's many more examples where the word bitch is just replaced with '......' any swear words are just left blank
