Support for Donald Trump has plunged as he has alienated fellow Republicans and large majorities of voters overall in the course of a month of self-inflicted controversies, propelling Democrat Hillary Clinton to a double-digit lead nationally in a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
The survey finds sweeping unease with the presumptive Republican nominee’s candidacy — from his incendiary rhetoric and values to his handling of both terrorism and his own business — foreshadowing that the November election could be a referendum on Trump more than anything else.
George Will, the conservative commentator and columnist, said Sunday that he changed his voter registration to "unaffiliated" 23 days ago and has left the Republican Party because of Donald Trump.
"After Trump went after the 'Mexican' judge from northern Indiana then (House Speaker) Paul Ryan endorsed him, I decided that in fact this was not my party anymore," Will said on "Fox News Sunday."

stupid young people are inspired by it
and then they grow up to become stupid old people
so i think it can have a delayed impact there
but no i don't think congresspeople who have been staunchly pro-gun are all the sudden reading that and changing their vote
but I do think when those artists see that ad in print that day and they are scarfing down the odor of their own farts the satisfaction of the aroma is extra beefy nice

It blows my mind that so many Trump supporters think they have a valid case when they accuse liberals of being "hypocrites" because they are supposed to be tolerant and all-inclusive, but they won't tolerate intolerance and they won't support racists and child molesters. WTF kind of argument is that? They have even gone so far as to describe this scenario as "ironic", when the real irony is their failure to recognize that bad analogies and false equivalencies are not irony.

In his blunt and imprecise way, Trump has shifted the Overton window on immigration, borders, and national security. The fact that he did so insensitively and that his approach lacked nuance does not make his deeper observation and critique erroneous, however.

I was excited to read something that made me question my own views, especially since me and most of my family
are immigrants, but IMO this article makes a really poor argument for why "Trump is right" about immigration; it's mostly concerned with making a bunch of obvious points about why "the US doesn't
HAVE to do anything, the US doesn't
HAVE to help anyone" with Constitutional and (frankly very flimsy) philosophical arguments. Then when it finally does start addressing specifics (like the study about ethnically diverse US neighborhoods), he offers skin-deep half-truths and doesn't pursue the more interesting line of questioning, like the relationship between ethnic diversity and poverty in US cities, and the causes of it. Also: I've seen this guy around Twitter. He's a Men's Rights Activist and one step short of a white supremacist. While that by itself doesn't invalidate any of the arguments in this article, it does cause me to chuckle at how hard he tries to separate himself from the "Alt Right".
