There are far more and I mean a great many more important episodes to characters we love stories in the clone wars series than there are in Rebels. Rebels is just now gettin interesting. Ezra Maul Vader Ahsoka and looking like Obi Wan. Hopefully it will become awesome now that they're tying things up and making connections to the larger story.
Clone wars has brilliant episodes about Yoda going on like a force quest, loads of cool ones about Anakin and his development, Obi Wan and Anakin together.
If you only watch one thing from clone wars look up the Mortis trilogy.
Anakin Obi Wan and Ahsoka go to this temporal hub where the force enters the galaxy and they meet the father the son and the daughter. These three are the force and the balance of it. It's three episodes but it's so well done and feeds so much into all of the threes stories but Anakin and his eventual fate especially.
As it stands I'd say Clone Wars is a more enjoyable series by a long way than Rebels. Rebels is only on its third season and only now growing legs but clone wars overall is far more worthwhile.

“Disney would have been looking at the film through two lenses,” says Nash. “How do we make a great film and how do we fit it into the overall mythology? They want the secondary films [a young-Han-Solo movie is also on the way] to build into making the next main story even more interesting.
That is especially revealing if they are in fact revealing Reys connection to Obi Wan this weekend

We're almost done with season 3 of clone wars and I think I enjoy Rebels more. I think I enjoy that fact that it is relying on characters we DONT know outside of the show, but is managing to tie in (and create) backstories that simply explain names and characters we know (ie wedge). I also really enjoy that we are not sure what happens to Ezra, Kanan, etc.
also.. Chopper.

Hang in there. Clone wars gets really really good season 4 onwards. In terms of filling out character arcs.
So apparently the scene in A New Hope Pablo hidalgo was tweeting about telling us all to watch it carefully is the conference scene on the Death Star where yer man is saying 'this station is now the most powerful weapon in the galaxy', there's one empty seat at the table.
Tarkin is there Vader is there
Krennic isn't there.
So he definitely doesn't make it out of rogue one. But will it be Vader or Jyn exacting revenge for her father?

I have casual fan morons arguing at me that Star Wars was never allegorical not political and there's no place for politics in Star Wars.
Someone please shoot me now.

Of course, Star Wars wasn't originally intended to be Lucas's political film. That was Apocalypse Now.
