The main lines of dialogue from the first movie I was most concerned about were Vader’s “We meet again at last.” And “when I left you, I was but the learner, now I am the master.”
For the former it kinda takes away from it being such a long time since they met, but really the Prequels had already castrated it anyway.
For the latter, this series doesn’t really change it all. Maybe even reinforces it. Anakin left Obi-Wan when he gave in to the Dark Side and his proclamation to Kenobi saying he, Vader, killed Anakin just emphasized it. (I also think that line was specifically added so it would line up with what OW tells Luke in the original movie.)
And it didn’t really change anything with what Ben told Luke later. Everything that came after that movie has already done that.
Coming out of RM retirement to talk about this show. Also, wease, in my opinion, Obi Wan kicked Vaders ass yet again. So, yea, Anakin/Vader was still apprentice/learner. This series reinforced that Obi Wan was still teaching Vader in both of their major encounters.
I gosh darned loved this. First 2 episodes were kind of bland but not looking back they are really solid to help lay the foundation for whats to come. Midway through Episode 3 and to the finale were everything I wanted with this series. We got that hardened/depressed Obi Wan battling his demons, but also got him out into the galaxy - ultimately finding the force again.
This last episode was legit emotional. Super well done. Dialogue, action sequences, tying up some loose ends. Just incredible.
That final battle with Obi Wan and Vader/Anakin was one of the best scenes in all of star wars. "You didn't kill Anakin, I did". My god. I love the half opened mask "there's still good in him) to reveal some of Anakin. Hayden played that so good. You could kind of sense some of Anakin still in there before Vader turns it away. Anakin's eyes...the sadness and the pain.
And to see Obi Wan fully unleash the force like that.
He walked away from him knowing giving into his darkest desires and finally striking Vader down (easily could have) would do no good. There are always 2. He felt Vader was "more machine than man" at that point and maybe figured Vader couldnt do much more destruction on a personal level. Not sure. But then to imagine the pain Obi Wan still feels for letting Anakin down and still not being able to kill him. Heavy.
I want more. So much. Its unnecessary. This was complete and im totally satisfied. Ill miss seeing Ewan as Obi Wan again but this was very satisfactory. This episode finally felt like a great cinematic experience of sorts where as the first few episodes felt/looked more like a TV show.
Phew. Just fantastic.
Okay, see you again RM!

Brings whole new new meaning to ‘how did my father die?’
‘He was killed by Vader who was a student of mine / anakin was a cunning warrior and a good friend’

How long before Sebastian Shaw’s Vader face is replaced with Hayden’s burnt up face when Luke takes the mask off?

I don’t think Vader saw it that way tho. He’s calling himself the learner and at this point he feels he’s superior. Than OW at least.

I think about this kind of thing a lot. And I really wonder, now that Lucas is out of the picture (meaning he doesn't own them anymore) I wonder if we'll ever see changes again. That was all him. I wonder if Disney feels they're "locked" at this point -- at least Ep 1-6.

The saga films particularly the OT have had very very small changes made to them on D+. Almost imperceptible
Expect that to continue too.

They are going to insert two girl Ewoks kissing at the end of ROTJ.

The OT that's on Disney + right now reflects the final edits that Lucas made to them as he was selling them to Disney. At least, that's my understanding from reading articles and listening to podcasts from those in the know at LFL.

Well, the last 15-20 minutes (but mainly the last part of Anakin and Obi-Wan talking) was the first time I thought any piece of this series actually had some weight and quality (although it still wasn't shot well and the music is just inexcusable). The execution of Vader/Anakin—the voice, makeup, sound effects, etc. — outstanding. That scene represents the core of what could have been a really great 2-hour stand-alone film focused on the two of them and their mental and emotional struggles.
Ultimately, that didn’t make up for the preceding episodes and the whole thing is a shame. I hope they seriously reconsider who they put in charge going forward if they do a second season. Unfortunately, my guess is they’ll see what I expect will be near universal praise for the climax and think they nailed it.

I think for the most part, yeah. But if there’s something else they could “justify” changing, it would be this. Especially now.

I think is a series that justifies a need to sit and rewatch it all at once. It’s short enough.
I hope they do a ‘play all’ option and just let you watch it as one piece. Could be easily done.
