I'd love to get my inventory management under control. I can give extra junk to Dogmeat when out on a quest, and I see there are perks that will allow me to carry more. Any other tips? Is there something I should build early in Sanctuary to store stuff, or some way to send extra inventory there from a quest? I'm just already so sick of shuffling junk and health aids back and forth between my pack and Dogmeat.
Store all junk in your workbench
Yea, that's exactly what I've been doing. My problem has more to do with when I'm questing. It was so annoying to be trying to clear the Corvega Assembly Plant, and having to stop mid-combat to sort through my inventory. Maybe I'm just picking up too much stuff along the way, but it seems like nearly everything I come across has been tagged for just several different upgrades, and I never know how much I need until I get back to crafting. I'm picking up every roll of duct tape I can find, you know? And then my guy can't run. Stupid.
Dogmeat as your companion will allow you to have the lone survivor perk. You can hold a lot more weight.

Ah, that's helpful -- I thought that perk would only work when I was truly alone. Also, should I consider buying a different canine from the guy near the train tracks? Any difference in dogs?

It is also a good idea to keep only one or two "heavy" guns at a time. I never tried the other dog. I was too loyal to dogmeat. Something happened with the other dog's owner so now that other dog just hangs out by Red Rocket.

Ah...I think you've enlightened me here. Items don't count for weight equally, right? So some items are heavier than others? So yes, I am likely carrying too many heavy guns -- this should help a lot. Thanks MD!

Also, be careful what you store in the workbench. Anything in the workbench is eligible to be scrapped. I made myself a footlocker to hold the stuff I wanted to keep.

Ah, this is smart -- separate my keeper items from my scrapping items. Thanks Scott Aukerman!

Just store your heavy guns you aren't using in the workbench of your choice and fast travel back to it if you need it. You should be able to see the weight of everything you are carrying in your inventory. Once you get the hang of it you won't be weighed down too much.

I generally try not to leave to go questing with more than half of my weight taken up already, I can usually go a pretty long time.

Thanks, that sounds like a good metric.

I leave all the heavy guns and launchers at home. Typically one hand-to-hand weapon plus the usual assortment of pistol, combat rifle, sniper rifle, shotgun and assault rifle is all I carry.

I also made a safe in Sanctuary and store all my stuff in there. Only junk goes in the workbench.
Recently bumped up the difficulty and now I'm getting legendary enemies and loot drops a lot more often. Came across a two shot gauss rifle last night. It's pretty sweet.

Fallout 4 question :
- Spoiler: show
- I got into the Institute and listened to Shaun's speech. I declined the offer and shot him in the head. I feel good about the decision, but I worry i'm missing some good game play. What did you guys do?

- Spoiler: show
- I did a couple of missions for the institute after that initial meeting with Shaun up to the Battle of Bunker Hill, where i opted to free some synths instead of returning them to the Institute. Upon returning to Shaun he got upset with me after a few poor dialog choices and teleported away, locking me out of the Institute and making them my enemy. I reloaded my save and made better dialog choices so i'm still in good standing with them, but Shaun is kinda pissed at me. I've been trying to keep my faction alliances open for as long as possible.
The only neat thing i think you might have missed is the opportunity to explore the Institute building and find that serum for Virgil. Helping him return to human form felt good. Also The battle of Bunker Hill mission would have been really fun if you were enemies with any of the factions. It's a pretty epic battle. You get the option to inform the Railroad and the Brotherhood that the Institute is making a play to capture some synths, and doing so causes all 3 factions to show up and battle each other. But if they are all your allies you can just walk through the whole mission without ever firing a shot or getting fired on. Was kind of a let down for me.
Tough for me to say how far in you are since i'm only a couple of missions ahead. I'm at lvl 41 and about 75 hours of gameplay.

Thanks again, all. I made several containers last night -- one for weapons & ammo, one for aid/food, one for apparel, one for miscellaneous, and one for junk. It's helped a lot -- I can finally think practically about what I'm keeping, scrapping, and taking on quests.

I should post a picture of my workshop. I've got containers everywhere.
1 container for armour i'm not using, but for some reason i want to keep (legendary, unique, etc)
1 container for armour i'm going to sell.
same as above for guns. i put extra explosives in here too so i'm not carrying too much.
1 container for clothes, so i can play dressup.
1 container of my favourite pieces of armour and articles of clothing so i can find them easily.
1 shelf for random cool shit i want to display
1 container for storing unused power armour
1 container for misc items, like old quest items that are no longer required in my inventory.
Then there's all the item specific shelves like magazine racks and bobblehead shelves.
Then after all that, junk goes in the workshop. Actually i read somewhere that when an item is in your workshop the whole item will get scrapped just for the 1 component you need. I don't know if that's true or not, but just to be safe I empty my entire junk inventory on the ground, then scrap it all.

What I don't understand is that the Mario Collection on the Wii has been really damn hard to find around here anyway, so much so that I finally bought a copy on ebay for $50. So where were the sales coming from to push it in to the "Select" status?

No idea. I've been wanting to play Pimkin 3 for years but either couldn't find it or it was severely marked up. It's going for $84 on Amazon. I heard it was because they didn't produce enough copies. I'm just hoping I can find all these marked down titles. I'll probably get all 4 3DS games.
