Ehh Mississippi Burning is a little too "race movie starring whites" for me

It's loosely based on a true story, and revolves around a murder investigation and the KKK. Maybe they could have done something to include a wider range of actors, but it would probably have been a different movie,

Yeah, but that's just the problem. It explores racial tensions exclusively through white eyes. I'm sure it had good intentions, but it almost winds up subconsciously asserting white superiority through its myopic perspective. This is a pretty common problem in liberal "issue movies."

I think it is a stretch to say that the movie shows white superiority of any kind, but I do see where you are coming from, and respect your opinion. I think there is room for a wide variety of movies on the subject, and that it would be a shame if this specific topic couldn't be touched upon. Besides, the movie has wonderful acting and I believe an important message.

Westerns, in general, are boring. The good ones are great, though and the Coens are goddamn genius that can do whatever the fuck they want.

Musicals is another example of a genre that I mostly have no interest in. But then there are those that just destroy me. The ones I like are ones that I fucking goddamn LOVE. But in general, I don't get out of bed for musicals. Or westerns.

I specifically didn't see that movie because I LOVE so many of the people in it. And the idea of it being terrible and having to watch people I love in such a terrible movie was too much for my heart to handle.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
