I thought it was a great show. Owens-Reigns was really good, but Reigns no selling BRASS KNUCKLES and their refusal to ever let Owens win a match clean was off putting. Cena-Styles was amazing, not much more I can say than that.
I actually really liked the Rumble match, there was a lack of suprise entrants, but if you look at who was in it, who would you take out other than a couple guys? The Reigns thing was stupid, but it was such an epic troll that it almost made it cool.

Any hopes of him ever getting over died with that.

I would've taken people like Kalisto, Mojo Rawley, Apollo Crews out and replaced them with any of Joe, Nakamura, Rollins, a legend or two. They were just bodies, unlike some of the definite non-winners who are either over (New Day) or had some fun spots (Gallagher, Dillinger).
I mean, they've made a success out of a dreary-sounding card before, but I dunno how much they can do with that. I'd be absolutely up for Joe/Owens, though.
I sort of hope Reigns goes full heel, beats Taker, then denies him his "emotional goodbye" spot by beating the crap out of him with a chair. Cement Reigns as THE mega heel, and then you can give Taker his farewell when he comes back for the Hall of Fame.

The worst part of this whole Reigns debacle is that he would be such an epic heel, I feel like you could build the company around him as a bad guy.

I mean, they have to make him a heel now right?

I mean, I thought that 2 years ago and they're still at it, I don't know if they ever will.

I didn't watch the Rumble until tonight; have people been talking about how eternally long the entrance ramp was?

i had no idea during the show, but apparently the larger guys like big e, strowman and mark henry had a cart waiting for them at the bottom of the ramp that sped them down the aisle.

I'm pretty sure Mark Henry still hasn't made it to the ring.

i've been very slowly making my way through the old prime time wrestling shows available on the network. the majority of the matches aren't very interesting or consequential, of course, but i'm not watching for that, i'm watching for the monsoon/heenan interactions. virtually everything that comes out of heenan's mouth is hilarious.
anyway, i'm up to the christmas 1986 episode. of note on this show are the seeds being planted for andre the giant's heel turn, as bobby is grilled about why he was at andre's reinstatement hearing (after lobbying so hard for andre's suspension in the first place) and andre has a terse interview with jesse ventura. also on this episode, and the reason i am posting about this at all, is a skit with roddy piper featuring a christmas carol theme. piper is visited by the ghosts of christmas past, present and future, and it's the visit from the last one that grabbed my ear:
is that roddy piper actually saying, 'you're an ugly fucker' and getting away with it? the only other word i can come up with is 'bugger', but it still sounds like what he says starts with an f.
