There's a hallway in my house named after him now as well.

In fact, them retiring Baines' number in 19fucking89 when they traded him is probably the single most egregious number-retiring in baseball history.

And then they gave him a fucking STATUE on the concourse. Luke Appling, Ed Cicotte, Ed Walsh, Ted Lyons...they don't have statues. But motherfucking Harold Baines does.

:shake:
:haha: That's pretty hilarious... did they make him wear a new number when he came back to the team in '96?

I like the way the Jays do it for a team without a long history to call from. They have their "Level of Excellence" where they honour the top players/fan favourites to play for the team (Bell, Stieb, Carter, Fernandez, Alomar, Manager Cito Gaston, GM Pat Gillick, Founder/CEO Paul Beeston, broadcaster Tom Cheek) but the only number they've retired is the one who probably deserves it the most, Alomar. I expect Halladay will join him eventually, and Delgado probably should but he'll probably just get the Level of Excellence treatment.

I don't agree with all the names who have been honoured (Bell probably shouldn't be there, Jimmy Key should, Barfield and Moseby probably should, etc.) but the thing that kind of pisses me off is that there's one statue outside the Skydome... former owner Ted Rogers. Ugh.

And at least Verlander got to see it through to the end, instead of the bullpen ruining things.

I fully expect game 6 to be a comedy or errors and bullpen awfulness.

Who is the Boston anticipated starter?
