Slumdog Millionaire.

We actually started this late last night, and finished it this morning.

Watching Fargo now.

Aftersun.

Loved it. The ending is powerful, sad and beautiful to look at.

Watched Fargo and The Godfather yesterday.

I could never watch The Godfather again and be okay.

I think so. He lives in London and she lives in Scotland, so my impression is that they only see each other every few months. And we see just on this trip that being physically separate from her for even just a few hours completely untethers him. And I'm not saying that their being together more could have saved him, either. I don't know. But it's certainly the only thing that helps him suppress all the negative, destructive stuff. We get glimpses of it and it is clearly not sustainable for much longer. He's already in a bad place

Because you don't like it very much or because you've seen it so many times now?

That was the first time I’d seen it. It was just okay.

Do you intend to continue on to Godfather II, despite your middling impression of Godfather I?

I do at some point want to see the second installment, but the first movie was just okay.

Yeah I get that. Not sure if being separate from her is that really wrecks him though.

Yeah, being separate from her doesn't wreck him. But being with her can help him stave off his worst impulses, or something like that.

The closing credits of White Noise was my favorite part.

Yeah I agree. It’s surprising they don’t hint an addiction. It’s just him being depressed it seems

I respect this opinion. I feel like it shouldn’t be so beloved by so many. I mean, I love it, but I should be in the minority.

I’ve heard Godfather II is better anyway.

I personally like Godfather II more. But I think both are iconic, brilliant films. If you're lukewarm on part 1, I'll be interested to see if you get much more out 2 or if it also feels kina meh to you.

I really enjoyed Godfather 1 the first few times I watched it, but I went to see it in the theater awhile back and it left me cold. Not sure if it was just me that day or what.
