Trump hovering around 74,200,000 votes…..similar to what he received in 2020.

Harris is at 70,300,000….about 11 million less than Biden in 2020.

That’s a wild swing. Dem voters apathetic with the candidate? The platform she ran on?

Trump kept his voting base from 2020, meaning he didn’t really gain any new voters.

I thought the Democrats lost because they were basically running as Republicans. I don't remember them talking about pronouns and whatnot.

I don't think they were either. I think they were trying to run from it, but wouldn't disavow it either, and everyone knows they quietly support it. People still see it everywhere in culture, and everyone hates it.

DISAVOW!

If they did they would have lost even more votes.

The first dem candidate who openly rejects that shit will smash through the primaries and become president like Trump did. Mark my words!

You might be right, but only because of the sad reality that so many people are so ignorant. It would be better if they weren't.

If our system is dependent on a permanent underclass of tens of millions of 3rd world peasants getting paid under the table, then we should fix the system, not become more entrenched in it.

Most Texans maintain our own lawns, thank you very much. Owning a 360 mower is a point of pride!

tragabigzanda wrote:Taking the long view, I’m starting to think this election outcome might actually be best for the country. It reflects where we truly are and could push us to finally address our own problems instead of outsourcing them. A lot of Texans who voted for strict deportation policies may be in for a surprise when there’s no one to maintain their lawns in a few years. The same goes for comfortable retirees who could see their purchasing power drop, or conservative school districts that rely heavily on tax levies to stay afloat, only to struggle when low-wage earners—often immigrant families—are no longer around to contribute to the tax base. These districts might soon feel the impact of shrinking resources and declining student populations, especially in communities that lean on a precarious balance of low-paid labor and property taxes.

This isn’t about schadenfreude; it’s about finally facing the contradictions of a capitalist system that has depended for generations on immigrants (and let’s not forget Indigenous people) to maximize profit while minimizing costs. By forcing us to see the real costs of these dependencies and how we’ve structured our society around them, we might finally be able to have an honest conversation about our economy, our values, and the roles immigrants have always played in supporting the American way of life.
Probably time to keep a close eye on child labor laws.

Apparently all those celebrity endorsements for Kamala didn't come cheap. Beyonce could have at least sang a song for the cash. What a colossal waste of money.
