Swung around an old range and headed out to the back ranges. They have a cowboy action range which is a whole bunch of leaning into the cheesiness painted plywood sceens with steel targets. Seems like some wholesome weekend LARPing fun if you're into that sort of thing.

A benefit of blackpowder weapons is they are not considered firearms formost ATF purposes and can be bought without a background check or federal paperwork. Also, even with some fun fluorishes, they can be quite reasonably priced. Italy makes a whole bunch of these replicas, for some reason.

9mm FMJ is now $0.80/rd. The kids popping off a magazine or two every night must be Soros sponsored, its the only explanation that can make sense with the current market.

If you loaded up in January, you could be looking at 400% markups (minus considerable storage and shipping fees).

*400 million firearms x 2500 rds/ gun is definitely reasonable, especially including rimfire. Pretty sure excluding rimfire well above a trillion. Dude at work bought ~12k rds of 9mm before he even purchased a gun to shoot it. $2400 isn't chump change, but if you're buying for several years of target practice, its not exactly crazy.

Commentator remarks that 5.56 has stabilized at ~ $0.60/ rd. I believe something like ~$0.40/rd was the norm previously. (Brass cased SS109 or M855 equivalent)

That rifle ammo has stabilized at a lower equilibrium than pistol ammo (9mm @ $0.20/ rd previously, more like $0.80 now) is of note.

Are all the new buyers flooding the pistol market more so than the rifle market?

One suggestion was that existing foreign producers are increasing supply of 5.56 to cash in on this US bonanza, and their national armories don't expect to fight the Russians any time soon, so why not.

Despite George H.W. Bush fucking up a lot of 2A stuff, at least he, Clinton, and Bush Jr. (Did we expand NATO under Obama? He gets credit if any new armories came online) made sure we could import all manner of Eastern European 5.56.
