This just occurred to me. Why didn't Vader catch Luke with the Force when he jumped?
one answer is that he is no longer powerful enough to do that. that doesn't bother me as much as Obi-Wan and Vader letting each other off the hook on the Disney Plus series.

Obi-Wan letting Vader live was thematically crucial. I loved that. Mercy defeated him and that was vital to Obi-Wan and Anakin's respective journeys.

I understand folks taking issue with how Kenobi got away in Part III, and it's a little more illogical/opaque. But I still think it makes perfect sense that Vader let him go. That he was playing with his food. So that works for me, even if I think it could have been handled better.

I understand why they did it but it's a little weird. Kenobi immediately culpable for the deaths of millions!

But I also think murder is something Kenobi really struggles with -- on any level/scale. So it tracks. But, yeah, you do have to wonder about the whole trolley problem of it all, for sure.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with Obi-Wan leaving Vader. It's kind of his MO.

Vader is the No. 2 head of the Empire which is growing stronger, as noted in the finale. How on Earth would a warrior like Obi-Wan not take out the No. 2 when he could? I understand that Vader had to survive for the future movies, but clearly they could have come up with a better scenario.

Obi-Wan couldn't bring himself to finish off Anakin. That's totally believable.

But he had just realized that Anakin is fully gone. That's the big epiphany he has there. "Then my friend is truly dead... but go off I guess!"

But the point is to let him go. Obi-Wan can't be the one to kill him. Regardless of whether or not he believes Anakin is worth saving, he himself can't be the one to kill him. The Jedi are supposed to be about mercy, not murder. It's core to who Obi-Wan is. It's all about defense, not offense. I think if Vader had kept coming at him, again and again and again, he would have kept defending himself but never with the intent to kill him.

There's a lot wrapped up in it and the show overall (along with previous canon -- TCW, Rebels, etc) did a great job explaining why Kenobi is the way he is and why he does what he does, I think.

Obi-Wan mowed down a lot of Stormtroopers and Imperial Guards in this series.

In defense of others. To protect Leia or Tala or The Path, etc. He mowed down a lot of people in TCW too. And Maul in Rebels -- but again, that was in defense of Luke.

But that's always been a part of his struggle and his learning. I think that's why it's also so important for him not to kill Vader. Vader is completely defenseless and broken. That's not the same as taking down someone actively trying to get you.

But also, let's not forget how Kenobi is described in The Clone Wars: “I presume you are acquainted with the collection of half-truths and hyperbole known as Obi-wan Kenobi.”

That being said, she was very efficient at going to a planet full of people with only the name "Owen."
I don’t think she knows exactly who he is. But I can’t remember what the message said that lead her there.

Although, what would be the point of her going after him if she didn’t know? I kept thinking while she was chasing him that this wouldn’t affect Vader at all since he doesn’t even know of the boy’s existence.
Well, I believe she wants to hurt Vader and Obi-Wan at this point, so I can see her going after him either way.
My read was she knew it was his son. Killing Luke would be her way of getting back at Anakin for killing the younglings.

I'm not sure Reva's thinking things through that clearly.

One thing that I've noticed about this show -- and it's important to remember when we think about what happens and motivations -- these characters don't have all the information that we have. And I think sometimes we're putting our expectations and knowledge on top of them and expecting them to behave as though they know what's up. For example, do we know that Reva knows that Vader doesn't know about him?

But that aside, it's totally possible that Reva would just get that info back to Vader. Maybe she'd reach out to one of the other Inquisitors or something like that. She had the ability to contact Vader at one point, maybe she can do that from anywhere and not just Fortress Inquisitorious? No idea.

Again, I don't think she's gotten that far yet.

Don't ask me to justify the dumb stuff this show did.

She hates Vader. Killing his son is revenge, even if he doesn’t know. If she wanted him to know, she could tell him. Do you know you have a son? He’s strong with the force, or he was, until I killed him.
