I feel like Gigaton is full of the kind of textures you're talking about, and it's one of the reasons I love it.

I agree. I miss the longer songs that build to something. I guess there have been a few recently? But it does seem to be less prevalent

yeah, Gigaton had some, but Dark Matter would be much stronger with extended bookends

I'm all for bringing back the heavy, but I want some inviting intros pls

No, that's just Apple branding at work. Makes people think they've invented things first if they simply alter the wording. That's their designation for Dolby Atmos no matter how or where you listen.
