I feel like this was on TAL or Radiolab at some point, if it's the same story I'm thinking of. He knew they were coming and recorded the moments when they took him into custody for "his own protection."

Stealing the cops taser isn't as good for the movement as passing a counterfeit 20. The headline makes it seem like he was just ordering a spicy chicken sandwich, which is also just very cool.

I feel like for a while there I didn't post in N&D because verb posted in N&D a lot about how he hated Trump. And I hate both Trump and verb (I won't say who I hate more) so I had conflicting feelings. It was difficult for me to sort out. But now verb is back to being generally detestable in everything he posts, so maybe I can start posting in this forum again.

There was a similar incident where the guy was passed out in the drivethrough, but he also had a gun visible. It did not end well for him either.

Something like that happened in my area and they called in SWAT and an armored car. 2 hours later they woke the people in the car with a flashbang and no one got shot.

Maybe having armored cars can sometimes be useful if it means the cops feel safe not shooting immediately?

i read a version of this story that said he took the cops taser and tried to fire it at him

i agree there are many scenarios where it does not make sense to shoot someone and risk killing them

but if someone takes a cop's taser and tries to shoot it at the cop - what should that person expect to be a possible outcome?

But they didn't shoot him immediately. They shot him after he stole their taser and pointed it at them.
