It was just pointed out to me recently that Groome was burning through option years, which makes sense for how long he’s been in the organization. They have a 40-man crunch coming this offseason, so I’m surprised they didn’t sneak a couple of other guys out the door (your Gilberto Jiminezes etc.) or trade guys whose stock was high (like Thad Ward potentially). That’s probably coming in the offseason.

With the state of the team right now, and the fact that he missed 2+ months with an injury this year, he may not come up this season at all.
