While not up to Arnold’s top tier work at the time, like T1 and T2, Conan, Commando and Predator, it’s not a bad movie. Got a good 80s action movie vibe, and Arnold is in fine form. Like Red Sonja, the movie needs more of him, which the ending sequence finally gives us.

Gosling is weirdly unanimated in every movie.

"Rise of Gru" for family movie night.

Fine. They are the masters of repeating the same story and keeping kids interested.

Neon Demon is great.

I also didn't care for Only God Forgives.

In a lot of them, yes. I don’t get him.

Plus, he's got a bit of a wonky eye.

A heartthrob? Get real!

I thought Michelle Williams was a bit much in The Fablemans. Still really liked the movie overall.

The adult interactions were the lone downside to me. LaBelle was great though.

Yep. That kid's going places!

Judd Hirsh was also great in his brief appearance.

I saw it once years ago, and thought it was ok. My wife saw it before we met as well, and she loved it so much then, that she told her friends about it. So some different opinions there.

I do it is generally rated highly on various sites.

Good enough start so far, so we’ll see. I can’t remember much from the first time I saw it.

My wife and I also diverged on this one. She really liked it, I thought it was kind of lazy Woody
Certainly not his best. I couldn't remember too much about it, but I think I feel about the same as I did back in 13-14. Decent movie, worth seeing, but not more than that.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. I really don't know how to take this movie. I think I generally know what the movie is going for, but the tone is just so weird at times. I will need a rewatch at some point.

hope the collaboration between refn and gosling resumes. when i watch gosling perform in drive and only god forgives, his face is always a mask. a decidedly handsome, though impenetrable one. i find that their negation of character in favor of type -- particularly in a moment when character, memoir, depth, and interiority are so widely valorized and fetishized -- to be refreshing, even necessary.
