Re: The Simpsons
both good points.
it's sad news but honestly the show ran its course years ago. They should end it with Shearer still involved

I don't watch new episodes, but it feels really wrong that they'd go on without him. They said they're looking to other voice actors to fill his roles. Awful.
I might be able to get to an E-bow.

Did you all know that Harry Schearer did voiceover work in Star Wars?

Re: The Simpsons
For the last few days I've been watching a season 3 episode every morning immediately after waking up. I forgot how much I love that season. Season 4 is when it started approaching genius, but s3 is really fucking funny. And sweet. A lot of heart in this season.

Re: The Simpsons
I have trouble breaking this show down by seasons. Since I was in my early teens, I've been watching it in syndication, so it just became this homogeneous "thing" in my mind. Even though I own a bunch of seasons on DVD/Blu-ray now, I still can't compartmentalize the episodes that way. All I know is I can watch any episode from 1991 through roughly 2003ish and it will always be great.

I'm always shocked when people think the "drop" happened that early. I think it was still killer then. "Beyond Blunderdome" is one of my favorite episodes. Actually, a lot of those are some of my favorites.

Re: The Simpsons
I watched a couple of season 9 episodes this morning ("Lisa's Sax" and "This Little Wiggy") and I think already there's a steep decline in the writing, especially after having watched the entirety of season 3. There's an over-reliance on random cutaways and people acting completely out of character for the purpose of a punchline, which is often targeting low-hanging fruit. It feels like the version of the show that Family Guy stole their shtick from.tommymtcom wrote:1 -2 - too much Bart
