Me too.

As I have stated several times in this thread, I think his voice lacks any sort of character. I'm not getting the "geeky" quality that many have talked about. I think it's just bad.

I don't think there's a geeky quality to his voice so much as there is a geeky quality to his personality, and people who've watched him in interviews and such can kind of render the effect all-encompassing. If David Bowie was singing "Moonlander," we would probably hear the song a lot differently based on what we know about David Bowie. But, being familiar enough with Stone's quirks as a guy, I like how they inform the way I hear his songwriting and voice. At the very least, his voice doesn't outright betray his personality, so it's close enough for one so inclined to fill in the blanks.
Colin Meloy of the Decemberists -- that's a guy with a geeky voice.

there is just nothing enjoyable about hearing stone sing, especially if the choice is hearing Eddie instead. It's not even like it's a mike mills thing, where I don't particularly like his lead vocals but think he does amazing background vocals with a more interesting lead singer to offset him.

i like him. Yeah, its not the best singer...but can you imagine Ed singing Dont gimme no lip? Stone does the humoristic/ironic thing better.

Stone's voice fits his solo songs perfectly.

Well it should fit them, he's writing the melody. It's still pretty boring after a song or two.

I'd take this on the right song for a single track. I liked Mankind the moment I heard it as a 15 year old.

I dont know. I kind of feel its the center piece of the record. Kind of states exactly what PJ were attempting with Backspacer. "Ah fuck it, lets have some fun". Live my live with the volume full. without it - it might come across as just lazy
