I was sure he was testing him too. He might have been but think this was to demonstrate who cassian is at this point. He’s not invested in any rebellion really. He’s just out to survive.
Maybe once he reads the manifesto his little weirdo friend who died wrote. That’ll wake him up.

Episodes 8-10 are a 3 story arc and the finale is split over episodes 11-12
