I think Pearl Jam could be found to have kidnapped the members of Creed and kept them in a dungeon for 10 years and you'd still figure out a way to spin it.
As a favor to music fans?
people should actually bitch about real things. If pj got rid of priority seating for fan club members that would be a huge deal. Seniority gets you the best seats available as a favor to long standing members. It still does. But a fan club is not some feudal aristocracy whose primary purpose is maximizing the privelage of senior members over everyone else. If the ga seats were open to a general audience that would be much lamer. But it just for 10c members.
No, instead this fan club has made a point to minimize the privileges of senior members and even things out for all involved so that everyone gets a fair shake -- we simply disagree about that strategy. I call that a real thing.
So if they play 5 shows in your city you should get front row for all 5 just on the basis that you've been in a club longer?
You must renew now or you will lose your seniority in the Ten Club!
Look, I hate the 10 club more than anyone. I quit years ago.. but you guys got your years and years of front row.. Even people who signed up in the late 90s cant get closer than row 15 in a lot of cases.

Y'all should move to the South. I was 3rd row in Raleigh 2003.

I said earlier in the thread that I accept the strategy of the 10C and if I really want close seats I'll just buy them on Stub Hub. Which is kind of ironic given that the band fought an overpriced tix war once, but that's what I'll likely do if I lose the lottery.

It was a good idea at the start, but after twenty years seniority gets ridiculous. I don't think its good for the band or the majority of fans and should be ended. Sorry you kept paying to renew your membership, but its not like you didnt get anything for it. Take one for the team, pals.

Which is exactly what Ill do if I ever go see them again. Like I said, I left the club years ago.

I wasn't referring to just the Pit GA issue. I'm not even that critical of it. Shit, I haven't been that critical of anything that's happened the last few days. Cheap tickets, lottery system, and a tour. Sounds ok to me.
You can find a way to defend everything Pearl Jam and 10 Club though. Sometimes you'll take the antagonistic side only to then brush it off to "see the larger picture". I chalk to up to your "co-ownership" of Pearl Jam via being a mod here. You
feel them.

Just go to the show, know u have better seats than 3/4 of the other people, have a beer, smoke or whatever it is u do to chill and enjoy the music.
I just went to OK Twister Relief concert with 75000 other people for 9 hours and had a blast even though it was hot as fuck, lines were long and I could barely see the people on stage and it was 95% country music (but Sammy Hagar rocked that stadium). It's not always about seats. It's about the vibe, being with like minded people, and rockin out.

Most of the things people bitch about here aren't worth bitching about, or get blown out of proportion due to the group think mentality you can get on a message board. It's not that I'm interested in defending everything pearl jam or 10c does. It's just that too much of the criticism here is either whining or self-righteous bullshit.

i have an awesome number. 42***. i've been in the front row a couple times and in the first 4 or 5 rows many times. it's great up there. it was a nice run, but i know what the band looks like, and i really have no use for a tambourine.
but ga fucking sucks. it's just uncomfortable, and there is always some twat with his shirt off. plus, there is the bathroom issue.
here's what i'd like to see:
1st 20 rows are lottery, but eligibility for the lottery rows goes back 5 years. if you weren't in the club then, tough shit. i want someone who fell in love with the band during binaural up there, not some schvanz who bought tickets off a forward thinking douchelord last week to resell for 10 times face.

I enjoyed the way they did it in 2000 and '03 tours. The block system. Your number put you in a certain block of seats and how good you were in that block - depended on the enrgy you felt like putting into waiting in line all day. I scored front row 3 or 4 times and never worse than 6th in that system.
I certainly have no fucking desire to wait in line with the jamily idiots anymore - but that certainly gives some chance to have a better seat if you so choose to....

Also, for the record I never fell out of love with the band! I still love dearly!
its just that - the 20 year Honeymoon period finally came to a screeching halt :\

Stip, in the last 6-10 years Pearl Jam is:
2 shitty albums
10 Club has been an abomination of a fan club
Barely toured
Been sponsored by Target and Oracle amongst others; the same band that had audacity to put out posters with the phrase "sponsored by no one" when they were worth 1/100th the amount of money they are worth now.
Basically, the band has half assed it for almost a decade. There is very little to defend. In the pro/con list, the cons far outweigh the pros, which basically consist of everything they did from 1991-2003.

That was the straw that broke the camels back for me
Makes me sad. I won't be travelling to see them again after 65+ shows. I will go to the SD show because it's 10 miles from me.

God, I HATED the block system. Why have fans waste 1000s of human hours waiting in line when you can just put them in an envelope? I guess they agreed cause eventually they changed it. One of the dumber things they ever did. (And that says a lot for the world's putziest fan club).

It worked though. You still were guaranteed to get in a certain section based on your number. So you were at least guaranteed that.... then if you really wanted to be an idiot you could spend all day talking about what pants eddie wears with other fan clubbers and get even closer!
As of now Ill only travel to see them to tack it on with seeing a close friend. My best lives in LA so its a good time to visit.... We'll see
