You caught me. Nothing better to do on a Monday morning than drum up some shitty Barbenheimer gossip

Oppenheimer isn't a turd. There's a lot to like about the movie. It just ultimately doesn't work for me as a whole. It's the first time I've been disappointed by a Nolan film but that's not to say he isn't doing some interesting work here and there. All the stuff from the test destination on is interesting.
I wish the movie had been about RDJ's character honestly. Besides the fact that this is easily the worst performance of his career, the character and his arc and motivations and ultimate ending are some of my favorite things about this movie.

RDJ was great. It was great to see him acting again after so long.

It would have been so much better if we hadn't seen him acting though.

You said it's nice to see him acting again. I was making a little play-on-words joke. I'm saying part of my issue with the performance is that you can tell he's acting. He's ACTING!!! There's like zero subtlety in it. Damon has the same problem in this movie.
If there weren't so many truly great performances in this thing I'd think it was a Nolan issue. But that can't be it.

It's all subjective. If it works for you, that's great! I'm super happy about that. I love that for you. It didn't for me. *shrugs*
Sort of like when trag or WCT chime in on some album production/mixing/etc. They studied and trained in those skills and so they hear it all more specifically and in different ways. They hear stuff I'm not hearing. And that effects how they react to it. I might enjoy the song or album a lot but they hear something that they can't get past. Having studied and trained in acting for 20 years, sometimes I think I get hung up on things that maybe others don't. I have specific things I'm looking at and reacting to. None of that is to say I'm right or wrong. I'm just reacting and explaining why.
