Also, I have a newfound love of Dark Matter now when I play these two songs back to back. It feels deliberately paced after running. Lol.

Wow. No...just no.
Songs on Gig that are not as good as Running:
Never Dest
River Cross
TTLW
SBWM (possibly)
SOME songs on Gig were lightning in a bottle (Dance, WES, 7). Otherwise, it's fairly mediocre with some downright sub par efforts.
My mind is blown right now. Never Destination and Take The Long Way are way better than Running in nearly every discernable way.

Never Destination was filler on Gigaton, for me. Take The Long Way, I love. That's definitely better than Running.

You do kind of get slapped in the face constantly and by songs end you're not quite sure what the fuck just happened.
Intro, verse, chorus kind of, verse, chorus kind of, bridge, outro bye.

Took me a bit, but I came way around on ND. It's a fun, Who-esque rocker and Ed sounds fucking energetic the whole time. It's fairly close to old-school chest-thumping Pearl Jam, IMO. A bit of Black Red Yellow in it too.

Running might be the filler on Dark Matter, but if so, it's more enjoyable for me. SBWM I liked without ever loving. I hardly feel the need to listen to it now. Running is too new to judge. As of now, I'd rather listen to it than SBWM, Never Destination, River Cross, possibly Buckle Up.

Just not my favourite type of PJ song and a bit too long. Don't hate it, just don't seek it out.

There is so much more happening in Running than in ND or TTLW. ND is hard to take seriously because the harmony, melody, and lyrics are all so playful. TTLW just misses on so many levels for me. The Taylor Momsan (sp?) addition is garbage; falsetto in the chorus is a major flaw.
There are layers and complexities in Running that just aren't found in the other two.
My opinion of course and I fully respect that some feel quite the opposite. That's what makes this all fun.

If Dark Matter was an accurate indication of how mixes may differ by platform, then this one seems likely to sound a good bit more interesting once it’s on Apple Music.

I love TTLW personally. The ending is the best part, for me. Anyway, I do like Running a lot, too. Dark Matter I overplayed to start with. Now rediscovering it, so to speak and I really, really like it.

Short, catchy and fun - I quite like it after a couple of listens

I hated SBWM instantly and I still despise it.
Running is alright.

Ed is hilarious in the outro, but in the good way

I feel like he practices his new punk songs in the mirror when he's toweling off after a shower.
"Hell yeah," he thinks. "That will sound so dope from the pit."
[Jeeves, in the background] "Yes sir, quite."
"potato! potato!"
