This wretched plant from the tundra is flourishing.
Something in the water don't not compute. Insignificance is up there as one of the best things the bands ever done imo . Those lyrics, the chorus, that bridge, all the little sounds *sigh* I am a glutton for all things binaural thoughRelease_Me wrote:15showsandcounting wrote:Insignificance was way better, imo. I would say that this song reminds me of Insignificance in that its the purest rock song on the record and everyone is full on, but I dont want to upset Chud.
Insignificance could be the most insignificant rocker they ever did, IMO. I'd say that about all the rockers on Binaural except Grievance.
Getaway is a top tier Pearl Jam song.
stupidmop--do you like how eddie sounds on these songs?stupidmop wrote:Something in the water don't not compute. Insignificance is up there as one of the best things the bands ever done imo . Getaway is still only ok to me. I'm hoping the hearing the proper quality helps is grow on me. Still the best of the new songs though.
This is a weird complaint but I wish the verses were shorter, or less wordy. I feel like I'm straining to hear the music under eds voice.
Or add "My My" either before or after.LetMeSleep wrote:"Hey Hey" - EdVed2013. Keep it for the live stuff please. I cringe everytime.

Oh well, I'd lean more towards the actual songs, I don't really think having younger ed sing these songs but everything else sound the same would change my perception of the songs too much, though I'd probably like them more on first listen. I fully realise this is what he sounds like now. Though like I said I might prefer if if he was a little quieter.stip wrote:i was wondering if your issue was with the songs, or just not liking how Eddie Vedder circa 2013 sounds (which would be a deal breaker, most likely)

If by about a hundred you mean several thousands then yeah.digster wrote:Insignificance is about a hundred times the song Getaway is. And I say that as no knock on Getaway.
It gets better and better.stip wrote:15showsandcounting wrote:Wow. Seems like this is a fave of many. I will have to listen again, as I was not impressed the first couple times.
I think this is possibly 3 up from the bottom for me (ahead of sirens and future days) but it's still good. I like it fine, but don't love it. Definitely in the minority on that one.
D:Release_Me wrote:I'd take the vocal melody from Getaway over anything on Binaural or Riot Act. And Ed is actually singing instead of mumbling with marbles in his mouth. I would take 2013 Ed any day over Ed circa 2000-2002.
Glad to see I'm not the only one. Love Insignificance. Getaway can go away, as far as I'm concerned.stupidmop wrote:Something in the water don't not compute. I agree with this. Ed is too loud on this new stuff.stupidmop wrote:I think he sounds good if a bit loud on this, better than on backspacer and probably s/t. I remember thinking he sounded rough on LB and swallowed whole and probably still a bit loud. I can't remember ltrp, but I'm planning on giving these four another listen today to see how I feel about em now though.
I think I got used to him sounding a lot quieter on all those middle albums even though I remember being put off by it initially. I had/ have the same problem with backspacer.
Things are really becoming unhinged around here.bada wrote:I'll have to check but I think it's ok to like both songs.
